Product Description The Stanton S 550 dual CD player is packed plenty of features that are geared to make a serious DJ's life easier. It features Sony CD drives with 8x over-sampling, an auto cue function/instant start, manual pitch bending, selectable pitch range ( 8, 12 & 16%), 20 programmable tracks, S/PDIF digital outputs, and its brightly lit LCD screen displays Minutes, Seconds, Frames, and Pitch.
Amazon.com Unleash your inner DJ with Stanton's S-550 dual-deck DJ CD player. This sturdy, rackmountable set (two units each for the player and its control device) offers a pair of completely independent CD players, each with its own jog wheel and capable of pitch and speed adjustments, continuous play (one to the other), relay play (back and forth), and auto cue/instant start. Fader-start outputs allow mixer-triggered starts from compatible mixing consoles. Each of the unit's dual liquid-crystal displays shows minutes, seconds, frames, pitch, and looping status in addition to elapsed, remaining, and total-remaining time. Frame search lets you cue right to a specific CD frame, while four-speed scanning simplifies your access to specific parts of songs. Playback options include 20-track programming, compatibility with audio CD-R and CD-RW (as well as five- and three-inch CDs), and A-B repeat for looping segments of your choice. The drives are manufactured by Sony, and the onboard digital-to-analog converters use 8x oversampling to render digital audio as smoothly and accurately as possible. What's in the Box Main unit, control unit, three-foot control cord, user's manual, and a stereo analog-audio interconnect.

I agree April 28, 2006 dj gringo (Mexico) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I agree with the previous reviewer. It is a terrific set of tables for what it is and in this price range. I have taken mine over 4 states and to Mexico and it is starting to wear out after 1 & 1/2 years of heave use. Next i am going to get the s-650 because it is basically the same format that i love, and it has seamless looping which this doesnt (it has a small pause betweem loops, which renders it useless) All in all I would recommemd this for the beginner dj and for a club with a low budget, you will get a lot uf use and it takes punishment.

Great deck for the money, features are well thought-out w/respect to ergonomic location, labeling, etc. Downside to this unit (as with so many others) is the relatively poor documentation found in the owners manual - difficult to read. Manual basically labels component features but provides no additional info as to their practical use or interaction. For instance; the unit boast of "Fader-start". However, this will only work with certain models of DJ mixers - the manual does not list compatible models, nor does it list the tech specs on the "fader-start" interconnects.
